Effective date: 8/1/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Capitana (“Capitana,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Capitana mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

We built Capitana to be a marine concierge and safety companion. We collect the minimum information needed to make those features work. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

1. Who we are

Capitana provides the App. If you have any questions about this Policy or your data, contact us at [privacy@capitana.club].

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information, and only for the purposes described in Section 3:

Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address. If you choose to use Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature, we receive a private relay email address instead of your real one. We use this to create and secure your account.

Profile information. Any details you choose to add to your profile (for example, your display name, or vessel/boat information) are stored so we can show them back to you and enable features like crew connections.

Precise location. With your permission, the App uses your device’s precise GPS location to provide location-based features: local weather and marine conditions, nearby marinas and services, and the Anchor Alarm, which monitors your position while at anchor — including in the background while your phone is locked — and alerts you if your vessel drifts beyond a safe radius. You control this permission in your device Settings and can revoke it at any time.

Contacts. With your permission, the App can access your device contacts to help you find friends and crewmates who already use Capitana. Contact access is optional; the App’s core features work without it, and you can decline or revoke this permission in your device Settings.

Content stored on your device. Books, audio, and other media you download in the App are stored locally on your device so you can use them offline. This content stays on your device.

Technical information. Like most apps, we may process basic technical data needed to operate the service reliably (for example, app settings and diagnostic information). We do not use this to track you.

3. How we use your information

We use your information only to provide and improve the App, including to:

4. Legal basis and your choices

We process your information to provide the service you request and with your consent for permissions like location and contacts. You can withdraw permission for location or contacts at any time in your device Settings, and you can delete your account (see Section 8).

5. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the App. These providers process data only to provide services to us:

Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Capitana, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Capitana is involved in a merger, acquisition, or
sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with it, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and account deletion

You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time from within the App (Profile → account settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account signs you out and removes your personal data from our systems, subject
to any legal retention requirements.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at [privacy@capitana.club].

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Capitana may process and store your information in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.

12. Contact us

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at [privacy@capitana.club].
